TMO - Trauma Awareness and Care

TMO is a research based approach that Rädda Barnen (The Swedish arm of the Save The Children fund) have developed and is now offered through Leicester & Klein. It helps adults understand and respond to children and young people who have been exposed to serious and traumatic events. Furthermore, the education provides practical tools that create an understanding that trauma effects often manifest themselves in behavioural and emotional difficulties. TMO has been developed by Australian psychologists Howard Bath and Diana Boswell.

The primary objective of this two day course is to positively change the way adults understand and respond to the needs of traumatised children and young people. The education includes both theoretical teaching and practical application in the form of groups discussions, reflections and exercises.

The course is aimed at adults who work closely with children and young adults, including parents, residential care home staff, teachers, health workers  and other adults working with young victims of trauma.
